Cox Cable high speed internet provided speed packages that were highly competitive with most other high speed internet providers, but on Tuesday Feb. 17, Cox Communications released information stating that they have increased the speeds on two of their internet packages. This means that man of Cox Cable’s customers now get to enjoy even faster speeds than they had previous.
The two packages that were affected by the speed bump include both the Cox High Speed Internet Essential package and the Cox High Speed Internet Starter package. First, the Essential package saw a bump up to three times the normal speed, from 5Mbps all the way up to 15Mbps while the Starter package saw a five times bump, from 1Mbps to 5Mbps.
“We know this is especially important in today’s world where more and more devices are connected in the home,” Cox’s Omaha vice president Kim Rowell said in a press release.
The upgrades, which automatically were applied on Tuesday, should allow customers with those services to enjoy the same internet at a higher speed than they’re used to. For general web browsing, the difference may not be noticeable, but if users dealt with things like slow download times of large files and buffering from streaming high definition video, there should be a substantial change in both areas.
The increase in speeds also means that Cox Cable high speed internet customers can also used those same speeds with less bandwidth usage across all their devices in the home that access the internet on a network. Users with things like tablets that stream music or video will be able to do so with less slow down across the board as well as more bandwidth overall on the network, which leads to less stress on the connection for the other users online.
Cox Cable is making strides in improving their broadband network.
